MAGIC IN PROGRESS

we know it’s really about the people

my grandfather was one of nine. every holiday and family reunion was filled with aunts, uncles, cousins, and love. it was so wonderful. i don’t have to go far back into the memory tank to conjure up the feelings i had when we would gather. that’s because it’s not really about what you’re doing, or how perfectly placed the napkin is on the head table - it’s really about who you’re celebrating with. your loved ones, the guests, coming from near and far. they bring the feelings of togetherness, and show you the importance of gathering.

but there are some feelings that can be helped along if you’re paying attention to the details. some feelings we hope to evoke at each celebration. here’s a little bit about the magic making process, the tricks up our sleeves, and the pixie dust sprinkled along the way.

A CELEBRATION SHOULD FEEL…..

strong. distinctive. especially yours.

every celebration is different. just like the humans they represent. each unique in personality and feel, but alike in quality. we dig deep into the hearts of our clients and see what your dreams are made of. we ask questions like: what’s one word to describe your outlook on life? where did you meet your fiance? how do you feel about pink? because the most important part of the event is that it feels like yours. your love story. your history. your soul.

and it’s okay, not everyone knows exactly what they are looking for in the beginning. so we’ll keep working because we know it’s in there somewhere. and it’s magic - your magic.

unique. authentic. effortlessly (sort of) cool.

you know that saying ‘act like you’ve been there before’? in party land, it’s because we’re not there, but we want to be. it’s not still 1959, the grateful dead can’t come to our backyard, and maybe the tickle pink inn where you met your husband 50 years ago looks a little different than remembered.

but that doesn’t mean we can’t pretend. like literally, this hat right here came all the way from a bar in italy to the head of the groom and his brother-in-law’s in oklahoma. they were too perfect not to. maybe you want marilyn monroe to show up and take a picture with the guests. maybe you want balloons that say LOVE in giant letters everywhere because that’s what you’re filled up with. whatever you’re hoping for, we find a way to make it feel real.

like you’ve been there, like you are there, like you kind-of-want-to stay there.

playful. light-hearted. a touch of whimsy.

whimsy/ˈ(h)wimzē/: noun, a thing that is fanciful or odd.

13 going on…14. yup, not going on 30. so it’s okay if the guest of honor isn’t ready to take herself so seriously. actually, if you’re 59 going on 60, it’s still okay to not take yourself so seriously. we’ll turn your house pink because that’s what color it should be. create a tie-dye, larger-than-life dancing bear. or if your marriage means a lifetime of football rivalry, there needs to be a fairground corn dog for your guests while they play ping-pong on tables hand-painted in crimson and burnt orange. what about if you really, sort of, kind of, can’t wait to marry your person in ONE MORE DAY? well, the match boxes for the candles at your bridal shower should mention that too.

we’re mixing in the unexpected. coloring a little outside the lines. because let’s face it, normal is boring.

and so. much. fun.

confetti, you can never have too much of it. on the table, on the dance floor, in the air for that grand exit. it’s a party, remember? a larger-than-life balloon installation. or two. late night french fries in initialed paper bags because your people aren’t ready to go home just yet.

and don’t forget the entertainment. my gosh, do NOT forget about the entertainment. someone to sing the song that reminds you of your mom, to play some hard core rock ‘n roll, to make your guests feel like they are stepping back in time. envision those moments, the stuff in your fairytale.

i mean, what’s more fun than a dreamer?

whatever you are, be a good one.
