the story of the magpie

the magpie bird, long the subject of lore, superstition and hope is the symbol of annie brady design. but not because of the beauty of the bird, or the stories told that the magpie loves shiny objects and beautiful things, although those could be reason enough. but the magpie holds for us all the reason for celebration in its six simple letters. letters that represent my children. the three first letters of each of their names, maggie and pierce, combining into one magical, strong, everlasting symbol.  for it is within those children that celebrating was manifested, that love and its need to be elevated into glory and parties and gatherings was revealed, and marking time became something more than to notice but to revel in and cherish. the magpie will always find its way into our stories that we tell, the stories of families gathered, and milestones met, and memories made.  it will always bring us back to our purpose and remind us of the most important days, when we hear the magpie sing.
